Profile
Lantra is the government-recognised National Training Organisation (NTO) for the land-based sector covering England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

We represent the interests of around 1.5 million people and 360,000 businesses in the full range of land-based industries, comprising:

- agricultural crops and livestock
- agricultural and garden machinery
- animal care
- environmental conservation
- equine
- fencing

- fish farming
- floristry
- game conservation
- production horticulture
- landscaping
- professions allied to veterinary science.

Lantra's role is to provide a focus for the development of the skills, knowledge and enterprise of everyone involved in the land-based sector.

Our aim is to increase the competitiveness of businesses and organisations in the sector and support sustainable development. We do this by working closely with:

- employers and industry organisations
- government departments and agencies
- providers of learning and business development services to intepret and simplify industry development issues and government initiatives; to influence directly the way in which private and
public sector resources are used; to ensure the closest possible match between the demand for and provision of services which support our aim.
