Mark has achieved rapid career progression during his time at BSI, moving from Standards Development into Training Services (where he developed a range of accredited environmental training courses) and Product Management. Mark currently holds two positions with BSI, one as the Head of its Sustainability Group and the other as Director of Strategic Development for the BSI Group. As part of his responsibilities at BSI, Mark acts as Project Champion for two high profile Government-funded projects - Project Acorn and the SIGMA Project. Project Acorn is developing a new environmental approach for SMEs and the supply chains in which they operate. The SIGMA Project aims to develop the next generation of management systems and tools to facilitate sustainable business. Mark's involvement
in environmental management does not stop at BSI. He is a member of:
He is also a Director of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA); a Special Adviser to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change; and chairs ISO's international committees on climate change. Mark holds a BA in Applied Economics, a BSc in Environmental Science and an MSc in Environmental Management. He is currently studying for a PhD in Sustainable Business. Mark is also a Visiting Fellow at the University of Southampton, Centre for Environmental Science.
