SIGMA - Putting Sustainability into Practice This site now contains the new SIGMA Guidelines launched on 23 September 2003. Project SIGMA aims to provide clear, practical advice to organisations to help them make a meaningful contribution to sustainable development. In recent years, increasing numbers of organisations have recognised that there is a powerful case to manage the social, environmental and wider economic impacts of their organisations ' activities. Many organisations, however, are unsure of how best to act. The SIGMA project has developed guidelines which help organisations to:
The SIGMA Project - Sustainability - Integrated Guidelines for Management - was launched in 1999 with the support of the UK Department of Trade and Industry. It is a partnership between the British Standards Institution (the leading standards organisation), Forum for the Future (a leading sustainability charity and think-tank), and AccountAbility (the international professional body for accountability). Training is now available to implement the SIGMA Guidelines.
